Pre-Event Race - TriSports.com Desert Classic Duathlon - Location: Phoenix, AZ [race site is about 130 miles from Tucson]

Now in it’s 11th, year the TriSports.com Desert Classic Duathlon is the premier short course duathlon in the southwest United States. This race is for everyone, from first-timers to elite athletes, as well as friends and family.

Because the February race has been a qualifier for the world duathlon championships, the TriSports.com Desert Classic Duathlon draws a strong field of top age groupers from throughout the United States. It is also popular with many pros who use the race as an early season test of fitness. Former champions include Simon Whitfield, Samantha McGlone, and Desiree Ficker. And immediately after the race there is even a kid’s duathlon making the entire event a family affair.

A great course, unique desert venue, warm weather, plenty of sunshine, fun music, great awards, a huge raffle and racing alongside some of the best athletes on the planet all make the TriSports.com Desert Classic Duathlon the essence of what we love about our sport.

Mount Lemmon Group Ride - Time: 7:00am - Location: TriSports.com

In conjunction with the TRIFEST weekend and the training camps, a Mount Lemmon Group Ride is planned for Friday morning.  The ride will leave from TriSports.com promptly at 7:00am and will reach the base of Mount Lemmon approximately 8:00am to 8:15am. It is about 17 miles from the hotel to the base of the mountain. From there, it is 27+ mile climb to the top with a potential climb of over 6000 feet.  We will ride together to the base and then everyone will be on their own to determine how far and fast you want to ride. Be warned that the temperatures drop dramatically from the base to the top of the mountain. There is also no aid on the climb in between the base and the top so bring plenty of food and drink to get you through your planned distance.  This is your opportunity to ride one of the routes that makes Tucson a training destination for endurance athletes worldwide.  The ride will be led by local Tucson resident and former world champion triathlete Jimmy Riccitello.  Come join a host of pro athletes, industry reps and other age-group athletes on this special ride.

TRIFEST Industry Dinner - Time: 5:30pm - Location: Holiday Inn Palo Verde

To kick-off the TRIFEST weekend, Friday night will play host to the Industry Dinner. The dinner will feature Mark Allen as the Keynote Speaker and other guests include professional athletes and industry vendors.  This is great place to interact with some of the sport’s biggest names in a relaxed setting.  For conference attendees this event is included in your registration. A limited number of seats are available for purchase at $70 through Active.com.  If you are interested in attending the dinner, we encourage you to buy your ticket to the event early because it will sell-out.  The schedule of events for the dinner include:

West Side Group Ride - Time: 7:00am - Location: TriSports.com

Sunday morning will be another Group Ride - this time out to the Tucson Mountains. This ride will take athletes out to western Tucson, home of Old Tucson Studios, the world-famous Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and Gates Pass.  You will not want to miss this ride.
